Six rescued from floodwaters

DARLING Downs emergency services were kept busy overnight with six people rescued from floodwaters.

A 48-year-old man was saved by the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service swift water response team before 2am today after his car was washed off the Oakey-Meringandan Road.

He was unharmed.

A family of five had to be rescued by boat when its 4WD was caught in floodwaters on Humbug Road near Tara about 1.15am today.

The vehicle left the road and was swept about 100 metres downstream.

A 34-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman and three children waited on the roof of the car until rescued unharmed by a State Emergency Service boat about 4.30am.
